Extended DVD Edition, director Peter Jackson
and his sensational cast and crew have
masterfully reinvented the crown jewel
of this legendary trilogy of films.
To create this extended edition of the film, Jackson and his editors didn't simply cobble
on scenes that were cut from the original
production. They approached this new version
of the film as if they were creating the
film for the very first time.
In addition, over 350 new effects shots were incorporated into this new version. And,
as with The Fellowship of the Ring and
The Two Towers, Howard Shore composed
additional music specifically for the added footage.
